Nick O'Hern claims title in Oz :-)

I was generally intending on coming back to this blog at the beginning of the new year as all tours restart but if i'm here it's for something good and today it's down to Aussie lefty Nick O'Hern claiming his first title since 1998 on home soil at the Australian PGA Championship.

He had to work for it though with the lead changing hands through the day. O'Hern gave himself some momentum with eagles on 8 and 12 with a further birdie on 15 but then gave a shot back and missed closing out on 18 with a nervy missed short putt. Having to mentally regroup he defeated Peter Lonard at the fourth extra hole.

So YAY! for Nick O'Hern and let's hope that propels him on to greater things in 2007. With Charl Schwartzel currently the 54 hole leader in S.Africa these talented guys (right or left handed) need to be able to generate wins regardless of the territory they're playing in as that is the true mark of being world class.

So there you are, worth coming out of hibernation for that one!
